June 7th Update

Wow I made it, we are now into retirement now 5 days and so far it is GREAT. We are working with Firetower Baptist Church here east of Conroe Texas to get ready for VBS on June 14 through 17th. Lots to do and it is all fun. We took a short trip over to Kingsland, TX to visit with good friends Larry and Carolyn Tindell and had a great time. Met with and shared pics and stories with their Pastor as he is preparing to go to Mongolia. Annette and I have been there 8 times and love the people and the country. It is like going back in time some 250 years. More posts will be coming, so stay tuned folks.......God IS......Richard and Annette.

A fix for your RV oven

I have heard and read from several RVers that they finally gave up on using their gas oven in their RV, just because it doesn't bake evenly. Here is a fix; go to Lowes and purchase a 12" by 12" ceramic floor tile (Let the wife pick the color) and place it in the very bottom of your oven. Then, bake some cookies. Yep, that's it. What happens is that the tile stores up the heat so when the burner reaches temperature and turns off, the heat stored in the tile maintains the oven temp more evenly until the burner kicks back on again. Once we did this, my wonderful wife now bakes casseroles, cakes, cookies, and about anything else and it all comes out fine. Since adding our piece of tile, we have not had a failure. Give it a try and let me know what you think. Happy RVing...............Richard.

Today is day number 60 and it is a mile stone with only two months remaining until retirement day. It's starting to feel like it is actually real. I hear that retirement is not for sisssies. I am starting to realize that it is a very serious step in life. But out there is what life is all really about. Life isn't about success, but rather significance. But even more than significance is allowing the Lord to orchestrate this time in life to impact what one leaves behind when the  end of the book is written.

Well I have had lots of people ask me if I was going to set up a blog for when we pull out on the road and start Fulltime RVing for at least a couple of years. So guess what? A friend at work told me about this blog site and here we go. So what starts to happen when one gets 62 days from RETIREMENT? Let me tell you that time is flying by. I figured that it would just drraag by when it gets this close, but not to be. You have to get set up with Medicare Part A and B, then find a Part D for perscription drugs, then a Suppliment of some kind, then Social Security, don'tforget to activate any Pensions that you may have. Looking like medical ins coverage alone will be around $5,600 per year. Ouch! But the Lord will make away, He always has. After 48 years of getting up every Monday and going to work, that first Monday is the day that I have been waiting for all this time. So stay tuned, I have lots of things to post on my Blog. Keep looking up.
